Unloading the Kiddieland Train

Kiddieland was a famous Chicago-area amusement park which operated from 1929 to 2009. Its most prominent feature was its miniature train. When Kiddieland closed, the train was sold.

In March of 2010, one of the locomotives was loaned to the Hesston Steam Museum in Northern Indiana. It should be up and running for the 2010 Summer season.

The background music tracks are "Lonesome Railroad Blues" and "Alabamy Bound", both performed by the Pullman Conductors of Jazz.

i am 43 i grew up not to far from kide land never seen this train run they had a smaller orange one i believe the smaller train was v 8 powerd it ran very smooth and quiet and always pulled a full load of people.

It looks like a 4-8-4 wearing Dreyfuss/20th Century Limited style streamlining that is used on Hudsons.

The front wheels locked up several times during the move to the engine house. It turned out to be a bad bearing.

Yeah, the wheel was hitting the frame, but that problem's been corrected now.

Minor correction- it turns at for then stops turning shortly after they start rolling it.

I noticed that the front wheelset on the lead truck doesn't appear to turn over the entire length of the video. I'm guessing there's a bearing problem there?
