Nicholas Farrelly of The College of Asia and the Pacific at ANU discusses what's happening in Thai politics in the first of the 'Explained' series. Farrelly is the co-editor of the Thai politics blog, New Mandala. He also presents the Thai politics vodcast 'Thailand in Crisis': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2liXe3dIYIA
New Mandala can be found at http://asiapacific.anu.edu.au/newmandala
Nicholas Farrelly was one of a number of speakers taking part in a forum on April 21, 2010 at ANU titled 'Thailand on the Verge'. The video for the forum is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrxal4JgbzA
I wonder if the Thai people knows what the Nicholas Farrelly is talking about.

Thaksin had already put paid to the idealist notions that had come to infuse Thai democracy after the 1997 constitution by: buying in old style vote buying politicians to form his party; systematically undermining all the checks and balances of the constitution including, the Constitutional Court, the counter corruption commission, the electoral commission, the office of the auditor general; engaging in mega corruption; encouraging the police to murder over 2,000 people his "war on drugs".
