World Champion Magician Steffan Soule, who hates the sound of that but is indeed a world wide performer at the top of his field, presents "The Girl in the Puzzle", another great Steinmeyer Idea brought to the stage by Soule, who we all know is cool, but in this case he had help from the hot Micky Hades who built Jim's Puzzle with a twist of craftsmanship that makes it easier to produce the effect of impossible magic. The odd part of this performance is that it was only once when the PCAM convention was at a convenient time and location for Steffan to perform. Brian Ledbetter was just learning magic back then and you can see the whole team struggling with the choreography which is only complicated by the sequence and the feel of the piece. You might say they are at odds with one another like the words "girl" and "woman" have come to be in the current language of our modern times.

  • Thanks for your comment @pk26pk26. Your thinking shows insight into the craft, now I think we need to read all of JS's GITP which is not mentioned but rather detailed in D&I. Then we would need to ask how to make it "play." Do you think laymen can follow our sequence here? What could we do on stage to make them follow it?

  • I read about this new JS illusion called Trouble (by Dan Summers), and from what it sounds like, it's kind of similar. Is it fair to say GITP never caught on with illusionists? Does it have something to do with being hard to follow the changing pieces and still remember there's a girl that's vanished? I can follow this well, but most audience members might be confused. GITP I think is mentioned in JS's Device and Illusion, which I have not come across yet. I'll try to buy that book if I can.
