They are not simply "The Six Million". They are each and everyone a Person, an individual with loves and hopes and worries and cares. Each one had a soul. Each one had someone that he or she loved and was loved. SIX MILLION is a number, but it represents so much more, so much more than a Number...

@randy95023 Yes, Thank you. What I want the monument to get across is just exactly that- they were all just like you and me. Never should we just think of the numbers, but rather realize that each person was part of a greater whole, a family, all having daily lives that were cut short.

Thanks for asking. I applied for a number of grants- didn't quite happen this time round. Bad economic timing. I am being sponsored by the US-Ukraine Foundation in Washington. You can contact them and ask them about donating money. In the meantime, I'm going to work on it with my own money until at which time I feel I can apply for grants again. No worries. It will get done.

No, I am the sculptor and this is what I am proposing for the site in Kiev. I hope to be able to get a grant to help me build it.Then I hope to get permission from those I need to in Kiev. In the meantime, I will sculpt the original until I need funding to continue. The real funding is necessary for the enlargement, the casting and the installation.

What a magnificent memorial, terrible in its beauty, agonising in its detail. To the creator I say Bravo.

Never Forget the pit we ascended into in those sad years. Never forget the inhumanity we are capable of when we see others as different. WE ARE NOT DIFFERENT: WE ARE ALL THE SAME, WE ARE ALL SOME MOTHER'S SON, SOME FATHER'S DAUGHTER.

The killing at Babi Yar went on for a long time and included over 100,000 victims, even up to150,000, including Red Army soldiers taken prisoner, many of whom were Ukrainian, and Ukrainian patriots who opposed the Nazi German occupation.

Bolshevik Russia's NKVD used this site first to kill Ukrainian patriots and others opposed to Russian Bolshevism and Stalinism--even before the Nazi Germans did-- so Babi Yar is really a place where both Nazi Germany and Bolshevik Russia committed genocides.
