@Hive5exPander I don't know what I can say to help to be honest. It just takes time to learn and get used to the handling and the timing of the boosting of the character also other things as well. I'm not sure if this will help but I use control type B (ps3) I find this works best and operating the control stick and Directional pad (D-pad) at the same time to perform backwards drifting is easily done because your only concentrating on steering with your left and driving/boosting with your right.
