Tonight I decided to put up on youtube a test video demonstrating my 1993 Norman B20 acoustic guitar, made by Godin out of La Patrie, Quebec, Canada.
I have just played a snippet of one of my favorite songs, Nutshell by Alice in Chains. RIP Layne Staley.
I purchased this guitar used for $75 dollars (which is an absolute steal, but anyway) from Kijiji and since then it has come to be my favorite acoustic guitar that I own. (my other is an excellent simon & patrick showcase rosewood for which i paid $575.. video demo to come soon)
The Norman b20 is known as a mid to entry level guitar, but is made in North America as opposed to a lot of other entry-level guitars which are made in China, Taiwan, Honduras etc.
The quality of craftsmanship is apparent.
I hope this video has served to distinguish the norman guitar lineup as being on par with other guitars which are priced quite a bit higher. Although this guitar is not an all solid acoustic, the solid spruce top combined with wild cherry laminate sides produces an amazing sound.
The strings on the guitar are DR Rare medium-light gauge. Pick used is a brain 0.60, and the camera used to record video and audio is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3.
My camera has a slight problem lately where it has a "hamster"-like clicking noise at times.. but seems to quit when there is audible sound captured. You'll notice the annoying sound in between the playing.
The solid spruce top is beautifully aged, but if anything this guitar has gained incredible tone and depth as a result of this aging.
@RocknLester2011 you threw away a martin because the strings were rusted???
