In the Weekly Republican Address, U.S. Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) calls for full repeal of Obamacare following the Supreme Court's decision this week to uphold the President's health law. A doctor who has practiced medicine for 25 years, Sen. Barrasso says the Court's ruling did nothing to improve the failed health care law: "It remains unworkable, unaffordable, and very unpopular." Sen. Barrasso says congressional Republicans are committed to repealing Obamacare and replacing it with health care reform that ensures Americans "get the care they need, from the doctor they choose, at a lower cost."

That's a good argument, but actually a fallacy. The free market corrects itself by competition. Not only that, but policing and courts can be run by private entities. This in fact would detour corruption by eliminating monopoly. When the public is aware of corruption, they can refuse to buy from a producer. This was done with credit in MN, but the due to government forced monopoly of the Fed. Res., it was eliminated- this would have increased the value of the US dollar. Government coerces.

Actually Obamacare's intent is to provide the same type of coverage congressmen get to all Americans. Whether that will happen or not is really a matter of political will and diligent implementation within calculated parameters like any other project.

The mandate is not a healthcare concern, it is a fiscal concern. You seem to be confused about its function. We cannot exactly afford the Bush way of paying for big government operations (cutting taxes to pay for two wars).

Government has its uses, and as long as citizens are politically active and watching, government will be under control. Many Americans wrongly think civic duty is not a responsibility but an option. A good counter-example, although I don't agree with many of their ideas: the Tea Party. That's why they keep winning. The free market is unable by design to police itself, and thus cannot tackle corruption. That's an accountable government's job.

Then the US has been socialist for a very long time. Ask any Medicare recipient. What you are going to do instead? Ryan plan with vouchers? If that were to happen, any American making less than $1M a year sustainably is better off hanging him/herself up as soon as s/he contracts a degenerative disease. The gist of Ryan's plan is basically to get baby boomer votes by sacrificing my generation, in the guise of saving money better spent blowing up someone else's country in the name of freedom.

Well again, I'm sure if you took the corruption out of the healthcare industry (by keeping government out of it), the free market would clear the problem, at least better than any government option or co-opted market option. I'm afraid I'm not the biggest expert of the matter. I have an opinion, I'm kind of a market-anarchist/libertarian, so I have my beliefs on the matter. I do know that many of governments (all over the world) have done nothing but coerce and oppress people.

Obamacare is socialist, socialism is the definition of financial enslavement.

I'm really glad you brought up something to think about. And I wish you were a GOP congressman. All I hear from them is the same droning about getting rid of Obama care, meanwhile almost the whole thing is based on Republican ideas from the Clinton era, and so they have nothing better to offer.

Here's the problem with your idea though, it does not tackle the coverage problem. And it may assume that you will remain gainfully employed or financially self-sufficient until the end of your life.

How much of a favor do you think you are doing American taxpayers by wanting to keep millions of uninsured people out in the wild, some of them with serious physical and mental health issues? Some things in this world are worth the taxpayers money. Health care coverage is one. Unnecessary wars like Iraq, not at all.

Guess who pays when you end up in the ER and cannot pay your bills smarty pants? Do you need to be a doctor or a rocket scientist to know? Once you are admitted in the ER no hospital can refuse you because you don't have insurance. That applies to illegal aliens as well, courtesy of president Reagan. Don't take my word for it and do your research.

I'm already paying for that myself. Still, I can't believe you are deluded enough to believe you could never get seriously sick or injured. Heck, you could slide on dog poop tomorrow and get hit by a bus. What then?

The ambulance ride will cost you about $400. About $500/night in a soggy ER bed, add the cost of all tests, blood work and operations, plus doctors and staff fees. Who will pay for that? You? In that case you better be as well insured as a Congressman.
