I know it was a long time ago, but it still affects us. and I get really angry when I hear what they where telling people about Arbenz, he was one of the gratest presidents we've ever had; him an Arevalo. Th ewamerican government was worried only on the interests of the UFCO on on the interests of the guatemalan people, the land's rightfull owners; he was a comunist, he was acused of that without a reason. And after all they made him leave the country naked!!!!!!!

I'm Guatemalan and hate what all this events ignited in my country, we guatemalan's and anyone wanting their countries to prosper should learn more about this events, but not only about what's shown on this video, but about what happend before. How the UFCO actually gained control of all the land. Was it by bribing? Corruption? Plain hard work? I'don't oppose capitalism, if it were not for capitalism, as the freedom to accumulate riches in a fair manner, this website wouldn't even exist.

p.s. if you think "communism" as a conspiracy exists, you've been brainwashed. it's merely an umbrella term used to convince ignorant people that there is a unified evil ready to attack. The NYTimes is one of the most capitalistic and neoliberal papers. Look up actual information on it. There are multiple facets of political theory enacted in different societies. There is not one universal principle, that is empirically impossible.

... communist subversion? seriously. that's silly. It's more like a particular theory being attached to indigenous political protest. The oppressed indigenous/poorer classes in latin american countries tend to find marxism appealing because it appeals to their desire to retain nature and cultural autonomy. When their country is being controlled like a puppet, well, who doesn't get pissed. It's not in fact, fun to hate yanks, it's just tragically what "yanks" bring upon themselves.

give them what? guatemala has been a democracy since 1996. the dulles brothers destroyed united fruit company after the coup, the cia had identified it as the root of the problem in guatemala, the reason that communist subversion could take root there. it's fun to hate yanks, who cares about reality though. fucking gringos.
