Week 52. Hurrah ... I've reached my one year theremin-anniversary. One full year of learning to play the theremin; I wonder how many hours of practice I've done during the last 12 months.

I wanted something special to celebrate the occasion, so I chose something I felt would be a real challenge (for me, at least). The piano arrangement for this piece is quite fast ... and there are sooooo many notes to learn! (More than twice the amount of notes played in Saint-Saens' "The Swan" but in 30 seconds less time!!!) On the plus side, there aren't too many big jumps. Anyway ... I REALLY enjoyed learning this. I tried out different pre-set voices and ranges on the E-Pro, and finally decided to use the second preset (the one that sounds like Clangers) and the highest range-setting, neither of which I've used before; the result is rather like a canary singing opera!

Thanks to everyone who has followed my year-long theremin journey.

Piano backing track for this piece is from the fantastic (and reasonably-priced) http://www.youraccompanist.com

  • @samantaray Thank you for your kind comment. My apologies for the late reply; i have been offline for a while.

  • Great! In one year of learning! Big aplaus, indeed!

  • Thank you for your kind comment. I'm now close to completing my second year; progress has been slower but satisfactory ... and I still enjoy playing the theremin very much indeed.

  • Bravo!

  • Thank you! A year on and this is still one of my favourite pieces to play; if you check my channel there's a more recent version played a couple of octaves lower on an Ethewave Standard theremin.

  • Wonderful Mozart!!

  • Thank you! Your kind comment encourages me to keep practicing!

  • You are such a talented man. This would be hard enough to play on any conventional instrument, let alone the Theramin. Thank you for your inspiration.

  • Sorry, I don't know anything about equalizers. I've tried various settings on my amp when playing my Etherwave Standard through it, but, although I've sometimes found a less string-like tone than the E-Standard usually plays, it's never as mellow and flute-like as this ''whistle'' preset on the Etherwave-Pro. Also, the E-Pro has 3 range settings; this is the highest - a good octave higher than anything you can play on the E-Standard.

Each make of theremin seems to have its own individual sound!
