On June 10, 2011, Discovery Cove unveiled its first-ever expansion at SeaWorld Orlando: the Grand Reef. Taking the place of the park's former reef, the new area boasts 2.5 acres featuring more than 10,000 sea creatures for up-close encounters. This video takes you underwater, exploring the Grand Reef, as well as interviews with Discovery Cove officials.

  • so what happens to the other place where you used to snorkel with fish and feed the rays?

  • @Clairem159 The other reef is currently closed, to be reworked into an unannounced fresh water attraction next year.

  • Wait...the stingrays still have their tails?? I see murder in the first few months...ask the Crocodile Hunter's wife.

  • @skellington15 It's not the tail that stings, it's the barb - and those have been removed from the stingrays at Discovery Cove. The stingrays (and their tails) are safe for guests.

  • on one hand i think it's really cool, but on the other hand i really think those animals belong in the ocean and shouldn't be that confronted with so many people..
