In the bleak days of the Cold War, espionage veteran George Smiley is forced from semi-retirement to uncover a Soviet agent within MI6's echelons.

Hardy plays the rough-and-tumble Ricki Tarr, who unwittingly sets off the alarms about a Russian mole buried deep in British intelligence. Producer Tim Bevan, who made the film for Working Title and Optimum Releasing, said that Hardy 'looks like a young Robert Redford in the film'. Hardy and Oldman have also been working together on the new Batman picture, The Dark Knight Rises.

some things should never be remade, because you cannot improve on perfection, and Alec Guiness and the BBC mini-series were, and still are

I am absolutely YEARNING to see this remake. I think Gary Oldman is THE only other actor to portray Smiley other than the great deceased Alec Guiness. I'm having a hard time with the Prideaux character as Ian Bannen's mesmerizing performance in the original will be hard to beat.

This is from the director of "Let the Right One In" and stars 4 Harry Potter veterans (Gary Oldman, John Hurt, Toby Jones, Mark Strong), Colin Firth fresh off his Oscar win, and the awesome Tom Hardy of Inception. Duh, I'll be seeing this.
