  • Yes, lots to work on, but doing really, really well as it is! Bravo!

  • I'm learning we have 2 big things to work on.

    1. My nerves.

    2. I need to take her to more shows and get her used to paying attention in new and stressful situations. She can do all that stuff at home, but it's a different ball game in new places.

All in all, I think we did all right. :)

  • Great work, really. It takes a lot to get a horse comfortable enough to even consider doing what she's doing away from home. People forget that. She could have her head in the air while she spins in circles and runs over everybody in sight. She's being a very good girl because she's trying and listening. You both will do great with experience. For some of us, it takes a lot to do that stuff at home...

  • @LindamarieDuP Thank you. You make a very good point. I tend to forget that as well. I did take her to another trail competition type thing in December. The obstacles were much more spread out, and there wasn't as much of an audience either. not thinking about all the people and "what if I mess up?" I was able to concentrate on her and giving the proper cues, and we really did very well. I was so proud of her.

  • @theonesugarlady i could feel with you. my paint mare is exatly the same. so what-be happy taht your horse had an own head and mind,,,i wish sometimes my mare would simply do what i want...but if i see these show horse Zombies thats so In these days,i´ll be proud that my horse wasnt such a Zombie.

you 2 would be a great show team in a jear or two...let her the time she need^^

    good luck to you

  • sugarlady, I do love watching you on these rides. That's because I ride my horse at judged obstacle trail rides in a Bitless Bridle and without spurs. Your mare shows the results of such kindness in spite of picking up on your nerves a bit. That will improve the more you and she do these rides, as you suspect. I love your comments also! Wish my rides could be videoed as well as yours are, but the trails are ten miles long with obstacles along the way.
