great drum solo, love the way he gets the tom tom beat sound by pressing his elbow on the snare head while playing with the stick with the right hand. I've seen Charly Antolini and Sam Woodyard do the elbow thing but not too many drummers do it.

i was looking at these comments and came across kevin mcmanus, kev. found mickey's obituary write-up, i'll try to scan it for you and email it. I still kick myself today for not applying myself the way i should've when i was taking lessons from mickey but i'm sure somehow he must've been telling me to get back into the music and pick up the sticks again. don't give up. ...so i won't.

Big thanks for posting this video. I studied under Mickey in the 70's and would go on club dates with him. The posting from his grandson blew me away.

1988 can't be the right date, he died March of 87'. Anyone know the actual date of the video?

That is right, this was at my Bar Mitzvah performance, on Long Island April, 1986. I lost my mother and Mickey Sheen the next year in spring/summer 1987. I miss them both tremendously....I studied with Mickey for 1-2 years
