The Great Migration was one of the most significant demographic events to occur in the United States during the twentieth century. It was a movement between 1910s and 1920s of 2 millions African-Americans who went from the rural southern United States to the industrialized Northern States of America.

  • I think you did an excellent job and it's wonderful to see you take an interest in American History. Please view my video on Charles Burnett and tell me what you think. Peace to you.

Great work. I am working on a play and researching the migration to get into the psyche of the characters in the story,The Piano Lesson by August Wilson. You my friend have been a big help.

  • Nice video though I might add the "Greater Migration" actually extended through the early 1950s. I have grand and great grandparents on both sides of the family who left Tennessee and Mississippi during these times, and settled in the Midwest. Detroit, alone, swelled from having a population of 6,000 African Americans in the 1910s to more than 120,000 by 1920. They went North to participate in Industrialization & for a supposed better quality of life.

  • FINALLY!!!!!
