Two giants of indian percussion, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and Pandit Trichy Sankaran provide a spellbinding display of their mastery in this duet that occurred in Toronto in 2002. Keeping the beat is Sankaran's daughter, Suba, an accomplished vocalist (check her out as lead singer for the world fusion band Auto Rickshaw). They perform in a 16 beat rhythmic cycle, known in North Indian music as Tintal and in South Indian music as Adi tal. The format is that of the traditional South Indian tani avartanam.
