you're right...some people are too stupid to understand the story of the song...but hey, why you call them blond? I'm blond, and I'm not one of these dumb, stupid idiots and I think, many other blonds aren't that stupid you call them...

Wow, this song has prompted a particularly ... nasty series of comments - all too common on Youtube. First @70golden79 tells us that there are some people "too blond" (???) to understand that the song was written by Itschak "Katsenelson". But it wasn't written by Katznelson - it was written by Zeitlin and Sekunda. And now we have @TheHrvat86 (Hrvat = "The Croat") invoking God's blessing on Adolf Hitler. How could such a beautiful song provoke so much vileness?

how nice
It's not only about a cow. Some people are too blond to understand.
"Donna Donna" is a jewish song. It was written by Itschak Katsenelson (1886-1944). When he was in a ghetto of Warschau his family was killed in Ausschwitz.
The song shows that some people's life depends on others. And no matter how much you want to be free ... sometimes you get caught and killed.

ooh.. i thought the words written by Aaron Zeitlin, music written by Sholom Secunda.
Both of them were Jews, and the song was written in days of Nazism.
The original Yiddish song was for the theater piece "Esterke" (1940/41)
donna donna=dana dana (Aaron Zeitlin lived in poland, in polish means lalala )
