The economic downturn in the United States is taking its toll on the wealthy. U.S. repossession companies are being called-in to seize an increasing number of luxury items such as yachts and private jets from people who have defaulted on their loans. As Steve Mort reports for VOA from Florida, one such company says its caseload has quadrupled over the last year.

Poor little rich people. I feel sorry for people losing their little Nissan they use to get to work, but no sympathy for these luxury buyers!

@1RiskyRich ...That's a great story. you'll be out of debt soon enough and don't be afraid to tell people such. People don't want to hear it but they need to. People want to hear that you are just like them, making payments until rapture.

@justgetsome - were dying breeds. I also live way within my means. If I dont have the money to buy it out right, I will wait till I do. I only used my credit to by my home. I wish I owned it outright like you, but the way I figure it, I will only live there for 3 more years till my youngest is out of High School. Once they are out, I do not have to live in a great shool district. Debt free except for the mortgage for now.

@1RiskyRich ..why have payments?. I don't. I truly live within my means. i'm not a bum on the street either, I'm probably the only person on my cul-du-sac that actually owns their house outright. Are you in debt?

@justgetsome - the recession does have some part in it. What used to be a throw in the bucket is now more than one can handle. I am sure people dont pay their bills cause they just dont want to. The recession has caused millions of people to take jobs way below what they are worth. Do people live beyond their means? Hell yes! Thats the American way. Most of these people made payments untill they couldn't.
