The music is wrong. Omar Khayam was Persion, he was inspired by the tea rooms that still exist in the foothils of the mountains surrounding Teheran. A faboulous place...... one day it will be free again

It is not Umm Kulthum.
This is an Arab Christian chant. I think the singer is the Lebaneese Maronite nun Marie Keyrouz.

Both are excellent novels, very well researched. The one of Maalouf has a romantic tinge to it and actually refers to the manuscripts of the Quartets that were traveling in the safe if the Titanic on its fatal journey. The second, of Harold Lamb is another exquisite perspective onto the life of the great Poet, Astronomer and Mathematician.

If you want to read about the life of Omar el Khayyam, the great Maestro, read "Samarkand" by Amin Maalouf , or Omar Khayyam, by Harold Lamb. Both are excellent and instructive reads.

Its not, its Arabic by the singer "umo kulthom". Omr Khayyam translated to the Arabic music.

@xchattykathy The MOVING Finger writes (not morning)
to cancel (NOT cancer)
and thy tears (NOT they) - sorry, these are important differences which change the meaning of the verse
