Don't do it, just upgrade your diverter valve. Better yet, if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be messing under your hood anyway.

A BOV in MAF based cars like the 1.8T will create a rich condition when it blows off. The car's computer thinks there is more air in the intake than there is and will richen the mixture. Then it will lean the mixture when the o2 sensor tells it that its running rich, which will create a lean condition.

as long as you are using a bov that is closed at idle, you shouldn't throw and cels. mine runs fine.

@aphythiate This is true but the MKV 1.8Ts can get away with running a BOV usually with zero issues. The MKV and MKVI on the other hand, can not. DV only.

Who would want that? Use a Forge 007P bypass valve like everyone else, and leave those pff pff guys in their own right. :)
