perfect breath support and absolute tonal purity (and yes, I tried hard to ignore the piano). even more importantly, intimate connection with text and delivery of it with utmost sincerity. in my opinion, the only other singers in vocal history history who can rival Mr. Matthews' delivery of text are Phyllis Curtin and Dawn Upshaw!

Stearns should NEVER have to sing with anything less than a professional accompinest. His voice is too good for what was accompanying him in this video.

This kid has a teriffic voice, but I don't love him in things that need some emotional depth like Being Alive and Impossible Dream, but I love him in this. He seems to have an emotional connection. When he grows up, he could be wonderful, a talent in process of growing up.
