You are really over revving that!..not good for the engine. That isn't the type of engine you want to be treating like that, not to mention it's going to kill your milage. That vehicle will last for a very long time if you treat it right.

You look like a 12 year old driving a car.

I figure it must be tough to damage a newer Honda within only 35,000 miles. I knew a family (they were Polish and favored manual transmission) and they had a 2003 manual CR-V and had little to no problems for over 100,000 miles. It's gotta be overly aggressive driving that's ruining the car, not the car itself!

@unity25064b You are correct, the only reason I did it was for fun. Yeah, it is hard on the engine, but it only has 35,000 miles on it and it is still under power-train warranty for quite some time longer. That gives me some comfort room. But, like I said, you are correct. I shouldn't wind it up like that. I only do it occasionally when I want to have a little fun. When it comes to my truck, I don't rev it past 2,500 and I only take it to 2,500 when I must. (Such as getting on the Interstate).

@thedekester18 Keep it up and see how long it lasts. You can hear the valves rattling when you do that. There is NO reason what so ever to rev that engine that high.

@VeronicaDeVore Nah, it's fine. I have a cousin who works for Honda in the Engine testing department. He says when they test an engine, they rev it to 8,000 RPM and leave it there, running at 8K for an entire weekend. If the engine can take that for a weekend, I am pretty sure it should be ok revving to 7,000 for a few seconds.
Wow that thing winds up nicely... Good for keeping the SOOT cleared out of the pipes, and it's NICE of you to take care of that for your Mom..

@vidman008 Haha, yes, it does wind up nicely for it's size. And my mom can't say anything to me about gunning it like that because she does it in her Audi. :-D Besides, I don't do it very often, every once in a while to keep the injectors clear. ;-D

You'll be good to go with those components once they're replaced though.
