Great song and lyrics
I just want to point that this song is ANTI-WAR. bringing up the massacre of Suvla and Sud el Bar. for the shedding blood for the sake of the royal needs.

I'm Turkish, and love all of Irish folk songs.
When i listened this for the first time and heard "Sud El Bar" i thought that should be Arabic and wondered what was this song really bout. So i checked the lyrics and my respect for Irish got even bigger. I love how patriot and brave Irish are, and find it similar to my origins.
Even thou some try to corrupt us both, we got the same loyalty for our country and people,love that. In my heart, Ireland is my other nation.

damn. I knew about the snippy bald girl with the Pope's picture, which probably wasn't such a bad thing, but it didn't lead me to believe she could actually sing. I was staggered when I heard this. It is a joyous mystery on the one side and the purest heartbreak on the other. I love the album, Long Black Veil, but this the best of it.

god im proud to be a croat...but if i'd ever had to choose some other nationality,i would be irish,without doubt...this song brings me to tears and sends chills down my spine every time :)

This song is amazing!, its my favourite song to be honest! and this coming from a Brit! though i have alot of Irish ancestory, in the north though is where i visit,
can anyone tell me the name of the pipes in this video? not the Uilleann pipes the others?, are they Irish war pipes? i havnt seen them in that style yet.
