This tutorial shows how to enable/disable iOS 4 features on iPod Touch or iPhone. This way, older devices that are not allowed newer features can enable them anyways, and newer devices can disable unwanted or unused features.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: First you must have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch. For instructions on how to jailbreak your iDevice, scroll down to the bottom of this description.

Step 2: Install Winterboard and iFile through Cydia if you haven't already.

Step 3: Open iFile and navigate to "/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app".

Step 4: Scroll down through the list of files until you find one named "N18AP.plist". The next 2 files underneath "N18AP.plist" are also feature files that can be edited, but for this video I specifically went into "N18AP.plist" to disable Voice Control.

Step 5: Open whichever file you want to edit. If it gives you a list of options on how to open it, select "Text Viewer".

Step 5: Scroll through the lines of text until you find the feature you want to enable/disable. The feature name should be in between "*key*" and "*/key*". For example: "*key*voice-control*/key*".

Step 6: One line below each feature is a single line of text that either says "*true/*" or "*false/*". If it says true, it means that the feature is enabled, and if it says false, it means that the feature in enabled. To enable/disable a feature, all you have to do is change what the line of text says. If it says "true", change it to "false". If it says "false", change it to "true".

Hit the "Edit" button in the top left corner of the screen and select the line of text you need to change. Once selected, a keyboard will pop up and you can backspace until "true" or "false" is gone and then type in the new word.

Step 7: Press "Save" in the top right corner of the screen to save the changes.

Step 8: Exit iFile and respring or reboot your device. Once your device is done respringing or rebooting, the feature(s) will then be enabled/disabled.

HOW TO JAILBREAK:

iPhone or iPod Touch on iOS 4.1 or lower:

Go to www.jailbreakme.com inside Safari on your iPod Touch or iPhone and follow the on-screen instructions. DO NOT EXIT SAFARI UNTIL THE JAILBREAK IS DONE!!! May take 5-10 minutes.

Note: The only difference to your iDevice after the jailbreak is a new icon on your home screen named "Cydia".

You should also have Winterboard installed. If not, you will have to install it manually from Cydia.

iPod Touch 4th Generation on iOS 4.2.1:

Go to http://greenpois0n.com/ on your home computer. Once you are onto the site, select the your computer type (Mac, Lunix, or Windows). This will begin to download the greenpois0n program. Meanwhile, plug your iPod Touch into your computer with the USB charging cable. After the program is done downloading and installing, open it and follow the on-screen instructions. The jailbreak may take several minutes to complete.

Once your iPod Touch is finished jailbreaking (YAY!!!) unlock it and enter the application called "Loader" on your iPod Touch. Select "Cydia" and install. Now you are jailbroken with GREENPOIS0N!!!

You should also have Winterboard installed. If not, you will have to install it manually from Cydia.

  • @averyminya the wallpaper is nexus hd or something like that. Just search live wallpaper and it should come up. Also, there is a Cydia app called vWallpaper which allows you to pick from several different animated wallpapers for the homescreen. And yeah I have xsellize xP why do you ask?

  • can you write exactly what does it says and where it's written (under what?)

  • Why the fuck, do I need an APP to turn this shit off?!?! there is a switch to do it under Settings>General>passlock. BUT the switch does not work.

  • What's up with the

    N18AP.plist

    N72AP.plist

    N81AP.plist

on my iPod Touch 4g. Why isn't this just one file? It's retarded.

  • What background do you have from Cydia? Looks awesome haha. Also, if you don't have it, try DreamBoard, REALLY FUN :D And you can make your own themes if you want. You sound pretty young, so I assume you have xsellize, correct? Since iFile costs money, and us yungin's don't have paypal xD

  • Thanks dude, I fuking hate voice control

  • 1 update dude. if you are on 4.3.3 version then look for

    N90AP.plist.
