Carnival of Venice - Herbert L. Clarke - arr. Arban, Victor Records, 1909

HERBERT L. CLARKE plays "Carnival of Venice" on Victor #16088, recorded 4-14-1909. I thought it important to post this video because a lot of people have never heard Mr. Clarke play before. This piece is a trumpeter's delight to hear, but a nightmare to play. The first time I heard this record, my jaw just about hit the floor. Once again, Mr. Clarke touts his highly developed skills while playing "The Carnival of Venice," which was arranged by Arban. (YES, that Arban. The one who's name makes me cringe every time I think about doing a set of his warm-up exercises!) Herbert L. Clarke is still highly regarded as one of the best cornet players to ever live, even though his heyday was during the early 20th century. His studies for cornet are the foundation for many modern trumpet students, and will continue to be well into the 21st century.

I have uploaded THIS video for two reasons: #1. So everyone can see the label that says "arr. Arban." That's what I'm sticking to. #2. The video of this on my Credenza is my most popular, so I thought I'd upload a proper sounding video for all you cornet / trumpet players.
