Bloomberg Dec 8: "... the public option, which has drawn opposition from Democrats Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana (HICK STATES WHERE THE GOOD SENATORS THINK THEY WON"T BE RE-ELECTED IF THEY SUPPORT THE BILL), as well as Connecticut Senator Joe Lierman, an independent..."

Yet another window into the gears of democracy turning. I've seen responses posted by Dems, Repubs and a Libertarian and most are purely emotional, irrational bickering and low blows. The thing I don't like about Weiner is; no matter how much sense he sounds like he's making, he comes across as a self-righteous smartass. A trait that I see in many young Liberals. If they want to be heard, they need to sound not accusatory and glib, but professional. He does not.

So are you saying the supply side economics work? The republican party has failed since Ronald Reagan came into office at controlling the federal deficit. Republicans get cheap votes by running on the "We will give you lower taxes" campaign, yet they love to spend twice as much money. Its cheap Republicans get cheap votes on devout christians and people who like to save money. Why dont republicans come up with answers instead of cheap politics?

Well, why would you think that politicians enacting the political agenda that got them hired "bought their votes". Conservatives believe in lower taxation for all. It keeps government small and empowers citizens. The reason the deficit suffered under Ronnie was due to the cold war he ended. He did it with money; something he knew the Communist Soviets were out of (due to the Communism and stuff). I'll not defend the GOP since Reagan. Reagan was a Libertarian. The new GOP's methods I question.

Fact is, our government has almost completely failed in the last ten years to control spending. The spoiled children of the Golden Age are in power and are dropping the ball, regardless of party affiliation. The #1 cause of terminal illness in America is obesity. Our government is deliberating how to spend more money that we don't have, on people who don't produce anything and can't be bothered to stay healthy. The more we turn to government to fix it, the more we'll end up in the hole.
