As a muslim, i avoid alcohol at all cost. once college was over i lost a few white friends because i didn't want to compromise my faith and go pub, or drink. we still socialised over football, but slowly we just lost contact. Unltimately those who share my views are closer to me, i.e muslim friends.

ps. this episode quite informative, i didn't know that other indian subcontinent religions/culture have negative stance towards alcohol.

@TheDailyCranks What??? a teenager doesn't need to have fun drinking alcohol. there are other ways to have fun. play sports or something. It is far more dangerous for teenagers to drink because they will get drunk quicker, who knows what will happen when they lose judegement and cross a dangerous road...please don't promote underage drinking.

im hindu and i started drinking at 16 (socially), my parents would never except it at that age so i never told them. but they understand that people do it, plus i have older sisters that drink and my parents know about it, they just dont allow it in the house.

i have many friends that dont drink and we dont care if they do or dont, and they dont feel the pressure nor do we put them in that situation where they do.

what you drink dont make you an outcaste.

i drink. but only when i'm out partying :D ...haha but i have friends who don't drink and none of us have been separated over how sober a person chooses to be...LOL...but the sober ones are always the ones who were always entertained by what us stupid drunkies did :P

Looking back now- I'm glad that I never touched alcohol-

I knew alot of ppl who didn't meet their full potential bcz drugs, alcohol n partying became their focus- I know some ppl who now feel the need to occasionally or socially drink- even though they cut down in order to try n observe religious/cultural standards. I'm just glad that smoking weed didn't become a worrying issue for me like smoking cigarettes did.

Socially I am in the coke n red bull group lol- but I compensate with cigarettes (I know- I started young, but I hav been cutting down since Ramadan in order to quit by the new year). Something I do occasionally during parties to compensate for not drinking is getting high on weed- it's an occasional thing, 2/3 times a year- I know I'm not supposed to do that either so I'm gonna say no to weed when i pack smoking in.

Couple months before my 20th, I was quite depressed because I hadn't done alot of the things my m8s had done- things that are culturally frowned upon n religiously prohibited- but society seems to forgive if u do it n leave it whilst you're still young.

But on my 20th a m8 offered me a drink n i thought, I've gone my entire teen years without, so y start now- n bcz i dnt like the smell n everyone says it taste nasty lol
