  • I was on the platform that day. The winds were just out of limits and we had to wave him off.

  • @danimal139 Ah I see, still awesome though

  • @BeanerECMO Nice! I Miss seeing A-6's. They used to fly around the base by my house from NAS Whidbey. Still get the occasional Prowler though.

  • @DarkestHourRock ; EKA-3Bs, EA-6Bs, A-6Es & KA-6Ds

  • @BeanerECMO Yeah I knew he wasn't going to trap because of the lack of tailhook, but they were performing touch and go's on the deck and he didn't make do it that run. Im no Navy person so im not too sure what that would be in Navy lingo.

And awesome record of traps, what'd you fly?

  • He was never going to trap. There were too many 'unprotected' civilians aboard near the landing area. And, if you notice, the hook was never down. It was a planned wave-off. The winds are never out of limits during carrier ops aboard a nuke; they can make their own wind or just use what is naturally available. I have over 700 traps on 6 different carriers including 2 nukes - Nimitz and Ike.

  • he had his hook up so I think he was only demoing a wave off to the day trippers
