Toni M. Massaro Esteemed Expert in Constitutional Law

Toni M. Massaro is dean of the UA Rogers College of Law, a prominent legal scholar and was named "teacher of the year" a record six times. She holds the Milton O. Riepe Chair in Constitutional Law and was named a Regents' Professor in November 2006. Massaro is best known for her work on empathy and shame. She was among the first to critically examine the use of shaming as a criminal sanction. She's also an esteemed expert in constitutional law. The U.S. Supreme Court has cited her research in cases involving restrictions on speech, criminal sanctions and other vexing legal issues.
