Did yours come with sheet music? I have one on the way as I type, and although mine was made in 1951 I think it's set up the same and it is supposed to have some sheet music in the box.

Is this an Oscar Schmidt mandolin harp? We just recently acquired one off of eBay to restore, and you can hardly find any information on them. I'm wondering because the rosette looks similar to the one we have.

@Nilswerks I just got one too, have you found any information yet? I've seen similar instruments that have the type of sheet music that you slide under the strings and they tell you where to pluck. I was hoping to find the same for the Oscar Schmidt, but no luck so far.

@Meloen5 sound like maybe he used finger picks - I have a couple of those, maybe I should try using them - have just been picking with my finger. Did you father's look like this?

My father is a musician, he plays the organ, carrion, piano, trumpet and a bunch of other instruments...and he also has a zither (a cytar as we call it in Belgium) and I remember I also liked the sound of those chord strings...Trish is doing a great job playing it with her indexfinger (if I'm right) but I think you're supose to play it with your thumbs...I know my father had a ring-like thingys that had a pointy end looking down, and with that he'd pluck the strings...I can't discribe it really
