Lotus Elise and Ford GT at California Speedway, January, 2010

This track day group requires a "wave by" from the car being passed before the following car is allowed to pass. The GT3 Porsche and Ford GT (630HP at the wheels, it turns out!) were a little reluctant to wave a 190 HP Lotus by! That is why you see the start of a pass and then me falling back, as they still wouldn't wave me by. Good fun anyway!

I love the way the Ford GT just disappears into the distance on the front straight.

Their big strength of straight line speed really worked against them in Turn Two. I was running around 120 in the corner without a lot of drama and they were probably coming up to it at 150 or so and then slowing to 100. The net effect was it seemed like they would park in front of me.

But I still love the way that Ford GT just DISAPPEARS from me on the straight. Jeeez, that thing could go. Huge fun!

Pretty open track too.... Goes to show the skill of the driver means more than the car you put him in. Very nice.
