John Cazale was every bit as talented as Pacino and De Niro.
Cinema lost an incredible talent way too early. It's great to see so many tributes to him on YT.
He left us with 5 stellar performances in 5 timeless films.

@Cathie8791 I always liked Fredo too. The character of Fredo always seemed to me to be just an ordinary type guy who just wasn't cut out to be a mobster despite the lifestyles of his father and brothers. And I think as an actor John Cazale did a terrific job bringing this out. I liked Fredo, but really felt sorry for him too.

R.I.P. Fredo. And I agree with all of you who say that if John Cazale hadn't died of cancer at such a young age he'd be up there with Caan, Duvall, DeNiro and Pacino. I think he was just as talented as all four of them.

Taken from us far too soon. John would be respected and loved in the same way Pacino and De Niro are. The man had a great talent. Rest in peace, John Cazale.

@howl8 In Godfather II seemed like it was on purpose with three roles nominated and completely ignoring the best performance of the entire trilogy. Really? Michael V. Gazzo was effective, but not amazing. Lee Strasberg is important as hell in the acting world, but did absolutely nothing in that movie.

If he hadn't died he would be where Deniro, Pacino, Duvall etc are now. He was such a great actor.

the academy awards snubbed him for best supporting actor in the majority of his roles though, especially in the godfather II he should've won for that.. it's a shame because he was an amazing actor.
