Hamas-Israel ceasefire brings hope to Gaza - 18 Jun 08

Israel has confirmed it has agreed to a six-month truce with Palestinian armed groups including Hamas, the country's public radio service has reported.

Ehud Olmert, Israel's prime minister and Ehud Barak, defence minister, approved the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire a day after Egyptian and Palestinian officials announced a deal.

The Palestinian territory's been the scene of deadly clashes with the Israeli army since a Hamas takeover last year.

Egypt, which has worked for months to broker the deal, is urging both sides to do everything they can to make the peace last.

Al Jazeera's Ayman Mohyeldin reports from Gaza on the Egyptian-brokered peace deal.

Cease fire sounds great,only if both sides honer it but alas Hamas loves to break it then when Isreal retalliates, they cry about innocents being killed. they want there cake and eat it to.

I find it disgusting that the American news stations CNN and MSNBC are talking about Israel's recent attacks on Gaza and Palestine. However, it WAS Palestine (only a few days ago) who attacked Israeli citizens and were the instigators of this fight. But of course, most liberal Americans tend to side with Palestine and refuse to see the other side of the arguement. In either case, both sides need to come to their senses and cease fire from both sides. Unfortunately, not with Hamas in control.

President Carter got the peace prize too. You know Obama was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize twelve days after taking office. Upon acceptance of winning it, Obama was praised by the committee, "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy". . They also gave the peace prize to Yasser Arafat, the leader of the PLO, the best known terrorist organization on the globe. This is like giving it to David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the KKK.
