Mukteshwar Dance Festival : Vishnu Tattva Das

Abhinay : Astapadi : Dhira Samire
This is an abhinaya to an astapadi (eight-versed song) from the famous poem Gita-Govinda which describes the loving pastimes of the Divine couple Sri Sri Radha & Krishna , written in 12th century by great Vaisnava poet Sri Jaydev, and a devotee of Lord Jagannath. In this astapadi Radha (Soul) is portrayed as "Abhisarika Nayika"  the heroine who is on her way to meet her love & Lord Krishna ( Supersoul ).
A Sakhi ( friend ) tells  Radha :
O my dear,
on the banks of the Yamuna ,
in the forest of Vrindavan,
where the cool  wind blows gently,
Krishna the very God of love, the God of your heart, awaits you ,
His soft lotus like hands are eager  to embrace you.
Desiring only you today he waits.
O beautiful one with lovely limbs,
make haste, your lover waits.
Gently  he is playing his flute, softly, it calls only your name.
Today he welcomes even an infinitesimal grain of dust, upon his hands,
for that grain has touched you & returned to him.
A bird alights upon a branch,
there is a rustle, a noise,a sound.
Ah it is Radha, he says,
he hastens to make a place for you to rest,
for you to be his love.
Distracted he looks around, he waits only for you.
O my Sakhi,
take off your anklet today,
the agitated sound of bells is a barrier to the silence when lovers meet.
Wrap yourself in the garment of blue,color of the night
and hurry, hurry, to the dark silence of love's bower
where he waits - your Syam ( Krishna ).
