  • @helvis213 I have a question, why is the story so sexual?

  • Hey there carlover,

I think the story is basically about humanity and as you probably know, sexuality plays a large role in most people's lives. Throughout ancient history, many cultures had very liberal attitudes toward sex and as such, the text utilizes that element of life which had different meanings and implications than our current Western attitudes allow.

  • Cont' I think Gilgamesh's insistence on sleeping with brides before the groom is a device to show what an asshole he was before he was introduced to Enkidu

    All best.

  • @carlover1012 The ancient Sumerians were very technical a lot of their tablets talked about everyday life. a lot like a journal. Stuff like the things they seen that day. Stuff they bought at the store so on and so forth. So a lot of it talks about literally everything that they do. So a lot of Porn so to speak lol.

  • @helvis213 Added to that the fact that open sexuality was very common especially in te cult of Ishtar. In some celebrations, the priestesses would engage in sexual intercourse with many men as an offering and ritual to the gods. The same cult persisted even in Phoenicia under the goddess Ashtaroth.

  • Lovely...The first book....t.y.!

  • How could anyone give this a thunbs down? Ancient Sumeria, Babylonia, etc.,, that is where the "mysteries" of man trully begin!

  • It would be better if the voice over wasn't as monotone.

  • @helvis213 yeah i got the same vibe there, its Gilgamesh's way of showing that he is supreme above other men, an therefore can do what he wants, even take a mans bride before him.

  • Manliest story ever made, btw what is the name of music in the background?

  • realist shit ever.....come check my page out...hip hop...

  • Gilgamesh had a very powerful philosophy. We are not Gods who live forever. We die so we might as well make the most of it and not be the one who hides safely like a coward. I love it!
