There's a humongous sink hole associated with this preserve. It's 105 feet to the bottom, water is running, and varies in height depending on the rains. In the 40's and 50's the property was a golf course...it then became a citrus grove, but freezes in the 80's killed the trees...so now it is the property of the Lake County Florida Water Authority, one of many preserves in the county. The sink hole is not of recent derivation...it happened sometime in the dim, distant past, much like the Devil's Millhopper in Gainesville. (See my videos of that site!) We started the tour at 8:30 AM...one hour later it was oppressively hot..Florida in the summer! I hope you enjoy these views of native, unspoiled Florida!
