Short vid of one of my bikes....1978 Honda Hawk CB400A Hondamatic.... it's an automatic clutch but there is still a shift from low to high, has a real torque converter rather than a centrifical clutch or slider setup, has just over 10000 miles and is in unrestored condition....needed a real good cleaning and a tune up...runs great and it's fun to ride!!

  • THIS IS A GREAT BIKE. YOU HAVE DONE A VERY GOOD RESTORATION JOB. HONDA WAS AHEAD OF IT'S TIME, AND STILL ARE AHEAD OF THEIR TIME RIGHT NOW. I RIDE A HONDA SCOOTER, THE SILVER WING, AND IT IS AN AWESOME AUTOMATIC. YOUR HONDAMATIC HAS BETTER LOOKS THAN MY SILVER WING.

  • @TIOMACHY I ride with a friend who has a Silverwing...Its a very nice bike...its great handling, the CVT transmission and the 600cc engine plenty of power, looks good on the road and has a ton of storage!!! Thanks for the comment....ride safe!!

  • dude Im sure everybody says this, but no shit i used to have an identical hondamatic same color of paint and pinstripes and everything. Its like seeing a ghost!

  • @ronaldsmusicfactory I think the blue was more popular than the orange ones....you see a lot of blue ones on here....

  • Nice piece...looks and sounds in fine shape...I've got an '80 hawk 6 speed...blast to ride

  • @zip343 Thanks Zip....I can't take all the credit...she was in desent shape when I got her...I just replaced some of the parts and brought her back to "factory" the way she rolled out of the plant....the older Hondas are fun bikes and attract a ton of attention...

  • Looking to get a 79 or 81 CM400A, just wondering how you like the Hondamatic transmission

  • this would be an easy bike to start out with for a beginer

  • I had the same bike in my Senior year of High School 81/82. I wish I still had it.

  • my son just got the same bike gaven to him by our next door neighbor it has been sitting in his garage for the last 16 years changed oil, gas, battery started up after the 2nd try, awesome bike....my son is 15yo and he is restoring it since most of the chrome pieces have rust on them and the seat has dry rotted but not bad for a freebee

  • nice bike, im the second owner on the one i own and the original owner bought off the dealer black and it looks nice.

  • Im getting ready to buy and restore one of these bikes. Its my first restore project. Do you know where I might be able to get the OEM decals. Any other hints on what I should and shouldnt do would be greatly appreciated. The bike you have is beautiful and sounds great. Good job
