Ad for Leyland trucks, from the late 70's, with a neat in-built blooper - watch the scene where the truck makes the jump, and pay close attention to the figures in the cabin, especially the female passenger...
Bloody awful trucks to live in and drive for 12 - 16 hours a day. No air-con back then unless you opened the butterfly window and let bees and grasshoppers in. The motor sat in the middle of most of them. As for the black smoke, it was always a good trick to tell someone they could stall an idling Leyland with the sole of their shoe slapped over the exhaust. (The pipe came out of the front under the bumper on most). Choose someone with nice clean clothes and they would end up covered in soot.
my grandpa had a mastiff until he sliped off the step and broke his hip and couldn't get in it after that so I got it from him and been working full time with it since, never had problems with it even after 22 years of full time work.
My Family Have Two Of Them Reivers Havnt Worked In Years Sit In The Sheds Gathering Dust. The One Thing i Will Never Forget About Them Lorrys Is The Clouds Of Black Smoke When Ye Started Them
We've still got two..both Perkins 540 V8's. One with a 15speed road ranger behind it and one with an Alison Auto. Been Abused all their lives and still faultless.
Was that a shaven Hitler in the middle seat?
