I was nervous when the one guy was swimming broadside to the adult's mouth only a few feet away. I love animals and especially whales but I realize how dangerous they can be. They all have powerful tails and the bulls have massive teeth!

them shits big
-
only thing that makes them different is their looks, we are all creatures of this world and can be in at peace around each other, not always but there are those special moments such as
-
@indianavince My favorite book of all time. Yet sperm whales can be aggressive if hunted or attacked. I would be terrified!
-
@ryarod The baby is so curious and playful at the end. I've never seen anything like this. Incredible!
-
ORGYYY!!
-
Wow... I had no idea Sperm whales congregated like this. Nature never stops surprising... never stops enchanting. It's also so amazingly beautiful to see the whales so comfortable around humans...
Thank you for sharing this.

Reading Moby Dick... struck at the sympathetic nature of Mellville's writing towards not just the whale but also the human condition. Can't believe we made candles out of these mighty co-inhabitants.

-
@Gingie4life i have seen vids of the dolphins being killed......but from what I can understand, 99% of Japanese people are unaware that this is happening . I didnt know that they killed Orca. That is disgraceful ! We are sending Greenpeace boats to stop them whaling in Antartica . It is as if they just dont understand what they are doing !
-
Nature is phenomenal...
-
@tasman763 so agreed nd the way they captured the orcas in japan its so painful nd disturbing u should c a vid in youtube very sad :((((
-
@cincinatus90 in captivity yes, but in the wild so far no deaths that i know of..
-
@cincinatus90 is National Geographic a suitable quote source ??? April 2005 issue of National Geographic
It is mentioned in this article that there are NO *confirmed* deaths of humans from orca attacks--ever.
so.....be scared if you like. Im going to find my flippers and snorkel .
-
@tasman763 There have been a few deaths from killer whales.
-
@michetox there has never, to the best of my knowledge , ever been a recorded case of " whale eats / attacks human ". This includes " Killer Whales " which I prefer to call Orca . Those Orca in captivity should be released , and I believe that if I put a human in a cage, they may see this point of view. But some humans are very scared / short sighted / ignorant . Dont you be one of them . These are beautiful animals :-)
-
they are very intelligent, they smack each other pretty hard, but are aware that the camera guy is not so "sturdy" :D
a decent whack with their tails could kill a man i guess.
-
FREAK ME OUT. haha.. man these whales have such personalities. Can't imagine the feeling of being in the water with them. Huge brains.
-
@ukusapillage I am very, very curious as to where you got the idea that Finland practices whaling. For one thing, there are no whales in Finland's territorial waters. If you google "finland whaling", pretty much all you get is newspaper articles about Finland whining at Iceland, Norway and Denmark/Greenland to decrease whaling.
-
Aww, the calf is so curious. "Oooh, what's this? *poke*"
-
funny that they come to the azores to see the whales and then in their own seas they kill them talking about icelanders the finns and the danes
-
aren't this whales dangerous to humans?
-
How far off shore you have to get in order to see them. Magnificent video thou.
TX
-
I love to see the sperm whale swallow that diver, what a boner!!
-
This title is a little misleading
Those shots are from the Azores islands where you often find big family groups socializing at the surface.
