Start to finish tutorial of how to make a hat on a round loom, complete with pom pom. Note: Using only a single strand of 4-ply yarn for demonstration of technique. If you are making a hat for warmth it is best to use 2 strands of 4 ply yarn. Part II goes from sealing brim to casting off hat and how to make a pom pom

  • How would I make a multiple colored pompom for a hat?

  • @DinoThunder2009 I would take the 2-3 colors you are using, wrap a bunch of each color around your fingers in the same way. After tying a knot, try and pull the different strands around and adjust them so the colors shift and mix up a bit then cut the loops and spread out the same way. Might take a little extra time trying to get the colors to mix up a bit more with your fingers

  • Your tutorials are great, thank you so much for posting them!

I do have one question (and I hope it hasn't been answered already), but what loom size would you use for a newborn (or even 0-12month old) baby? Would I use the loom in this video and make more stitches? Thanks for the help!

  • @cassiechism Tricky question. The KK website claims the little blue one (24pegs) is for babies, but I've found they are too tight. The next loom size up is the red one (31pegs) are for kids ages 2-5. I've often thought they need one between size for infants 0-12 months because that's the age that needs warms hats. They suggest using one strand of baby yarn (3-ply) on blue loom to make it more stretchy. I'd go up a size and try double (2-4ply) strands together on the red loom for thickness.

  • This is great! Love the idea of making my own hat and matching scarf!!! I love the way you make your videos. Do you think you will do a video on making a flat panel. I know you recommended mickey but I think you can do it better. Not trying to knock him but. I just love the way you teach. Sone people are making loom videos and they are sooo complicated. Using knitting lingo like purl and stuff... Not ready for knitting lingo....

  • @sassylassy01 Thanks. I was just posting on another one of my videos, I am thinking of posting a how-to on rectangular loom scarves (with the "figure-8" type stitch). Maybe I will do a flat panel one too. Stay tuned. :)

  • These videos are absolutely perfect! I've had a set of looms for years and I've tried so many times to use them but I just couldn't get it. Just finished my first hat. Thanks!

  • I would love a video made by you on making yarn flowers with the small loom. I've been watching others and just can't get it.

I've made 5 scarfs and 3 preemie hats(with pom poms) from watching your videos. :)
