Arizona Department of Transportation : Stoplights and Street Lights

Arizona Department of transportation (ADOT) is about to begin installation of a stop light at Highway 89a and Airport Road in Sedona. While in itself, this sounds benign, looking at the entire roadway as it winds through Sedona, it is out of character with the long range plans for Sedona. Doesn't matter...ADOT says they are installing the lights, like it or not. And they are blazing forward with the most disastrous plan of all: continuous roadway lighting through the heart of our town. 70% of the community are opposed to continuous roadway lighting. 97% of all accidents occur during daylight hours and yet ADOT is planning to install lights. Smells like politics and money to us. Stay tuned as this unfolds. Some have pledged civil disobedience to stop the bulldozers ...
