Dec 2010:At Montmartre, the snow falls, the children play and make snowmen and 'les garcons des cafes' throw snow balls at each other, but nothing is going to stop one solitary artist finishing his portrait of a beautiful parisian girl.Bravo Stevan!

  • I think Stevan may have done my portrait in 2003, it looks like the artist. It has confused me though because the style was very different, more bold, very angular, is this the same man? His signature looks like C W, hoped to see it at the end of this film. He showed me cuttings of himself with Elizabeth Taylor who sat for him. I love my portrait, it reminds me of my favourite place. Would love to find out it it was him.

  • @Jofaulkner1I have checked with Stevan and the artist with the E.taylor clippings is another artist(also named Stevan)who sadly passed away a couple of years ago.His nick-name amongst the artists was "Picasso"because

of is cubistic way of rendering the face neck shoulders....the 'angular (style you mentioned.)

  • Another beautiful piece you've created ....what do you do in the winter..must rough not being able to work at the square full time...you guys are some tough dudes..Merry Christmas to you and your family ...another wonderful video Davy....Jim Johnson.. Vestal, New York

  • @jimer4444 Civy(first artist in vid)is tough. He eats broken bottles and rusty nails for breakfast. The rest of us are cuddly teddy bears in comparison. We ought to hibernate in these lean months, like real bears but it depends how much 'fat' w'eve accumulated in summer.

Most of us still have to climb the hill and draw in winter. But It beats working for a living any day.

Merry xmas Jim and happy new year!!

  • Leave it to Davy to send the world a beautiful Christmas card from Montmarte! Best wishes of the season to him and all the artists in Place du Tertre. I'm in Canada and I know that nothing generates warmth like a good snowball fight :-) I have to say I laughed out load when I saw the guy with the accordion! The umbrella looked like a crazy hat and he was pumping away. I hope someone bought him a cup of hot chocolate.

  • @AnotherMadder Thank you for your comment, and season's greetings to you too!

Don't worry,I gave the accordionist more than enough for a hot choclate!

  • Aww... now I can't wait for christmas :D <3

  • Thank you, it is very kind of you to find this out and reply. I'm so sorry to hear that the artist is no longer with us. Of all of the talented artists in the square his style appealed to me the most - original and expressive. If theres anything more you can tell me about him I'd like to know so that whoever ends up with my portrait in years to come can know something about him, if not then thank you for what you have already found out. Hope you (and the artists) are having a good summer.

  • great ambiance

  • i can see the snow reflected in the eyes of the sitter
