Some joker said Navratilova had to beat Billie Jean King, Margaret Court, Andrea Jaeger as "real competition" (in contrast to Steffi) to stay at the top and suggested that teenage Steffi trounced Shriver, Sukova, Mandlikova in the late 80s because they were too old.
