With more and more people starting to diet who are anything but overweight, I feel compelled to make a video like this one. We really need to open our eyes to the truth that the whole "skinny female = sexy" image, is just promoted by large corporations to sell their products. If you were happy with your body, you wouldn't buy their cosmetics, weight-loss programs, ab toners, or diet drinks. The entire beauty industry has a lot to gain by telling women they're ugly. But we really need to see through this. Ever since I have set aside worrying about my weight, I feel much happier. I'm healthy the way I am and most people are. Now, we just need to realize that.

  • I don't think I've ever felt so patronised by a single video. How dare you use images of Brittany Robinson without even understanding what she's going through with anorexia and bulimia. Eating disorders are NOT about wanting to be thin - that's what they APPEAR to be about, but they are symptoms of deep psychological trauma. All you have done is show your ignorance. You have no IDEA about how much suffering people with EDs endure. Do you not think if we could make our EDs go away, we would?

  • This video is great for showing what big companies do with women (using them, that is true) and just in that aspect, you've done a great job. However, i don't think the same thing applies for eating desorders, as someone said, they just seem to be about wanting to be thin, but they are not; there are more topics implied on them and their cure.

((I'm sorry for the ortography, my native language is spanish))

  • Make on of these anti-marketing videos (because, really, that is actually what you have said) about men, as in blu water, armani etc...because until then, your argument is invalid.

    :)

  • @14377431 Actually, being overweight most certainly doesn't look bad for everyone, being overweight most certainly doesn't mean a person is unhealthy and there are plenty of people who prefer women with curves. In fact being underweight is a lot more dangerous than being overweight. All of that has been proven time and time again as well.

That and not everyone is psychologically equipped to see through commercials. If you see something often enough you'll start to think it's normal.

  • @LadyBludgeon I wasn't saying that the thinner you are, the healthier. I was saying that being overweight is bad for you. Excess weight puts you at greater risk of heart disease and high blood pressure than a person of normal weight, as well as general misery from being unfit and joint pains. You might weigh more than your relatives, but you certainly don't have a weight problem.

  • @alnarweeg92 The whole fucking retarded human world is oppressing women and men... the west is just hypocritical deniers about it all.

  • @14377431 I disagree. Weight isn't a great determiner for what is good health and fitness. I'm heavier than my sister yet she has cancer and could barely run half a mile without dropping to the floor, yet if you look at her you'll think she is very healthy, but she isn't. I, on the other hand, am 125 lbs; 4ft 10in, yet could out run most of my thinner relatives, out push-up them, have better blood pressure & better cholesterol levels than they do. It's about living healthy, not weight.

  • The thing is, being overweight is BAD for your health, not just your appearance. This has been proven time and time again, and we all know it. So why should an unhealthy person be considered attractive?

As for the commercials, obviously commercials for jewellery and makeup are going to feature women.. that's who they're targeted at. I admit that women are objectified in commercials, and so are men, but I have to say that someone who doesn't see through this deserves to face the consequences.

  • @Soveraine Not s'much, I was done with this vid before you knocked in my Inbox, bro. I wasn't talking to you--oh, sorry, except where I called you pimply or something. That's true, my bad.

    Ew,

    <3.
