Well, I messed up about a million times but couldn't be bothered re-doing it. I've given up trying to convert videos from my camcorder so I'm back to the old webcam again. Apologies for the messy room or the "artistic scattering of objects" as I like to call it.

I think I'm singing some screwed up version of Janis Joplin's cover... As I understand it, it was originally written by Bertha "Chippie" Hill..?

I also have red hair now :) I've missed having red hair...

  • Chippie was the original singer of the first recording in 1926. The song was written by the piano player, Richard M. Jones, and the trumpet player was Louis Armstrong!! I first heard it from Marianne Faithful- who does a very sad, slow and heartfelt version. I like your "sunshine-emphasized Joplinesque" version also! ;)

  • Oh thankyou! With these old songs it's sometimes hard to discover who did them first. Louis Armstrong - really? I'll have to have a listen!

Thanks for the compliment - I think it probably would sound better slower but I get so petrified when I start playing that it just gains superspeed!

  • wow amy... if that's your name... you have a beautiful voice! and you seem to be a pretty amazing guitarist haha i wish i could play like that. i have a guitar and i write my own songs but mines electric and broken lol. your much better haha. ttyl

  • Thankyou very much! Yes, Amy's my name. You should put some videos up too - I'd like to see them. Maybe invest in an acoustic - grab a cheap one from ebay or a second hand store. It's less likely for an acoustic to break :)

Hoping to see some videos from you soon.

  • Very nice. Your arraingement is wonderful. Your voice is refreshing. Your video is slightly less than adequate.

  • Thanks! Yes the camera is awful I know but I've no idea how to get the videos from my camcorder to the computer. I have to do a tonne of converting which would bore me to death. Also, it's probably better that it's harder to see my face - I wouldn't want to scare anyone!

  • You're talented :)

  • you don't grin when you sing "sun's gonna shine" cos this will never happen and the singer knows it. if you still grin or even giggle it looks stupid. This is blues, man.

  • OMG! You have an amazing voice!!

I like it very much :) thx for sharing it.

    Grettings from Argentina :)

  • I was blown away ! instantly in love !

  • Very nice work! and a lighter, more upbeat treatment than others. (Bertha "Chippie" Hill's superb version used to be on YT but it looks like it must have been pulled because of copyright or something). Good luck with your music.

  • i havent heard such an upbeat version. i really dig it! nice job

  • Thankyou very much SwishSmoke :)
