i think robert said this song was about a nightmare. and the whole "spiderman" thing, his brother would always scare him when he was little being acting like a scary creature or whatever.so, i think this song reflects on either the nightmares he had as a kid, or maybe just random creepiness and being eating by what he feared as a kid. maybe..

One of the geniuses of Robert Smith is his lyrics...

I think he has such a grasp on the English language that he is able to pen words that not only mean something to him, but also can be interpreted multiple ways.

All the posts i have read certainly convince me that he achieved his purpose...every listener takes the lyrics in multiple directions. I think that is cool :)
