where is 5 SM on this thing. I'm tearing my hair out trying to find out how long it will take me to fly that far.

Kelly, you rock man. I have looked high and low for the answer you provided. Thanks for such great, clear instructions. You have made things easier for me. I have an electronic computer but don't want to rely on it alone being battery operated. Thanks again.

I did not realize that the E6B could be used to solve trig problems. I have a Breiting B-2 sliderule watch, which has scales A,B,C and a compass rose but my first reaction to the problem at 3:36 was to pull my HP50g and solve the arcsin of 18/120, which is 8.6 deg. or 9 deg. (rounded). Very nice!

how do you know if you are off course or not?

It's about time someone made these videos. :)
When I was working on my license I would ask pilots about the E6B and I would always get the same answer, "I don't remember how to use it."
Sadly, I think I have fallen into that category.
Thanks for the refresher.
When you are flying VFR you look for land marks and figure out how far they are from your track

Why do you have to leave the slide out? It's like it got neutered.
