Improvisation with Embellishments, Arpeggios and Chromatics

This video clip demonstrates some ideas on how to improvise over a single chord or key centre using a variety of diatonic concepts and some chromatic embellishments. There is also a free PDF file available there on developing jazz lines using some of these very embellishments if you are interested.

I now offer tuition over the internet (through the site) and also there will be some downloadable teaching materials coming very soon on jazz harmony, melodic improvisation and a whole lot more.

really like your vids! nice and sophisticated playing...how do you feel about playing jazzy stuff on a strat? i have one myself..like the ergonomics and all..but i am curious abotu what it takes to achieve a jazzy sound on a strat...similarly as you do..:)

Thanks so much!..I'm really glad you like the videos...there will be a lot more on the way if people want them. I really like playing jazz on a Strat although some folk aren't too keen on the sound I know. I usually just turn back the tone control on the front pickup if the sound is too bright through the amp and most of the time that seems to work OK. Thanks again...Cheers, Pete
