As much as I like Davin James's style, why does he kick and punch so "slowly." Is that is regular speed? Is he trying not to harm you? Does he not have enough control? Or is it a stylistic thing?

@TheTruthBringer1 I'm not sure I completely understand you, but if I may, I think the issue you're seeing is that they are sparring. A real street fight in most cases doesn't last any longer than a couple of minutes, and even that is long. A quick kick to the groin and the fights over essentially. I think in this form of sparring any attack that isn't evaded properly or blocked is considered a hit. If they go full force, unhealthy damage is clearly going to occur.

Good! Shows training how it's supposed to look. Imperfect, filled with mistakes but at the same time showing constant learning and improvement. Keep it up:) can't wait until my next class:-D

Not being rude but that is not applicable to a real fight, Sifu David James stands their with low gaurd as if he has an iron body, His kicks are weak and can easily be caught with a sanshou catch and took to the ground.

@TheTruthBringer1 Atleast learn english before you try to insult anyone. Especially a martial artist. Let met correct your 5th grade level comment: "(Y)ou may (think) your attacks are powerful but (I) see no (use of the hips) in (your) kicks (or) punches(.) (For) both of you(,) the power from (your) punches (is) in (your) hips and butt(.) Not in your chest mucles(.)" Come back to insult whenever your down scribbling words with crayon. Finally, Unless you can do better; STFU.

@FreddiesModernKungFu Curious to what you count as a hit, I know gearless non contact is useful if you only count hits that are in distance, eg your arm is not fully extended but you can still touch your opponents body meaning if you wanted to extend and go through them, you could
I see too many Karate guys sparring similarly but they are fully extended when they touch meaning in a real fight they were actually out of distance

@FreddiesModernKungFu compare your kicks and timing to cung le (mma fighter) THEIR is no comparison, you fighting stance and low hands are beginner level, yall have flexibility and strength but no timing, and power in your strikes, you can be strong with absolutely no punching power, and only people are or ignorant to real fighting think otherwise
-
@FreddiesModernKungFu you may thinks your attacks are powerful but i see no hip in you kicks are punches both of you the power from punches in in you hips and butt not in you chest muscles,
-
@FreddiesModernKungFu you will get bum rushed and knocked out in a street fight, you fighting to choreographed like, not real combat, u have to really punch with gloves to train your chin and body to receive real blows, doing sit ups i helps but no way enough , Bruce lee trained real combat sparring , what your doing is worse than tai kwon do point sparring, you have alot to learn about fighting, timing if very important you need to spar more full contact
-
This is good but I still do see confusion in the balance of swithing sides, etc.
I have not seen very much Kung fu like the black guy was doing, I liked it, do you guys do any contact sparring with gloves and head gear? Because what I learned is that, if you train to miss every time that's what's gonna happen in real life. I feel like you really need the contact sparring to feel what it's like to land the strikes and also block them. But I don't know your guys life, so I'm not trying to judge or anything lol

@GuamKomudo Davin has reached a very high level of training. His attacks are very lethal as are mine if I go full force. We have nothing to prove to one another, I respect his ability and he respects mine, there is no need to make any more contact for the both of us b/c it can only lead to unnecessary injuries for the both of us. When I train my disciples I make more contact in order to help them learn but once you reach a certain level you know what you are capable of.

1: I don't wear gloves and head gear b/c I will not be wearing that on the streets. So I train to move fast enough so that I do not get hit, if I do get hit then I must be able to take the hit. If my sparring partner hits me too hard in which I feel it will hinder my health and not promote it then I will let him know to lessen up for the force. With precision and a high degree of control no gear will be needed, it will be more realistic and you will be better prepared for a real confrontation
