ولد حاي زوارتس في مدينة بنغازي الليبية. وحين كان مراهقا تم اعتقاله مع باقي أفراد عائلته ليجري ترحيله إلى معسكر جادو للأعمال القسرية الواقع تحت إشراف الإيطاليين. وفي المعسكر، ونتيجة ظروف الاعتقال القاسية للغاية، فقد حاي شقيقه وشقيقته التي ماتت وهي حامل.

The question never answered by any Jew I talked to is that if they as they said were expelled from their homes in north Africa before 1948, and in the same time those countries were at first occupied by European countries such as Italy, France and UK, and those countries now support the existence of Israel.
