  • There are tempo markings in the music. Quarter note is supposed to equal 100 at m. 11 until "a little faster" at m. 37. Never does it say a lot faster! And you guys ended at a very uneven 155-160 bpm. And that last measure!?! Come on!!! Milk that B-flat. Whoever directed this piece needs some brushing up on contemporary styles, specifically soul and gospel.

Otherwise, you singers sound great. I agree about the alto that pops out of the texture, but overall good!

    Cheers!

  • I'm just holding the camera so I don't really have much to say on the subject of speed other than the fact that it sounds just fine to me. Then again, I've never seen the sheet music as you clearly have. However, I can tell you that the director is the music department's graduate assistant (aka still learning).

  • The speed issue, unfortunately, is the accompanist...

  • I think you should slow it down at the beginning

  • The tempo in the beginning was actually neat. It was different, which was cool. Who is to say that your interpretation of the song is wrong. The middle of the song, which is supposed to be faster than the beginning, seems rushed, but that may be because the singers, conductor, and accompanist all got excited. I know when I'm in front of my elementary school choir, I still get excited and take tempi faster than I wanted to initially. It was a different interpretation, but I liked it.

  • this song was soo rushed i think it actually might of ruined the song..we are singing this song in our concert and may and it seems to have more meaning slower than lets rush to end the song and i agree the conductor shouldve had control over the speed

  • ♥♥♥♥♥

  • how does one make the conductor rush?? Isn't the conductor in charge? Her patterns and gestures were all over the place.

  • this tempo works well... but slower works well too i kinda like this tempo needs a little more black in it i can always use more black little square but great

  • aw i'm in nj region II too! and we did do it about this fast, but the rhythm wasn't as weird

  • I'm in the Region II NJ choir as well and we definitely sang it at just about this speed.

  • i think its a pefectly fine speed. I am in NJ Region II Choir right now and we actually sing it a tad faster than this. I think this was amazing

  • but is the true is too fast, look i sang this song last year and our conductor dont get to fast like this one so that what i say is too fast!
